The Women
The Nike of Samothrace, a tribute to the Greek winged goddess of victory, lives in the Louvre. I fell in love with this piece long ago well before I had seen her “in person.” She has inspired me over the years in different ways. Of late she has influenced my other paintings and drawings of women and their circumstances.
